Linux distros compatible with secure boot. pcs with secure boot check that the system’s boot loader is signed by an approved key before booting from it. these pcs ship with microsoft’s keys. These notes are meant to help you setup a dual-booting system with linux on a computer running windows 10 professional with bitlocker device encryption, modern standby (a.k.a. fast boot), and secure boot.. At time of recording (02 feb 2013) there are only three linux distros certified by microsoft to install on a secure boot system, these are: ubuntu 12.10, ubuntu 13.04, and fedora 18..

The user has to disable the secure boot if he needs to boot an older linux distribution that does not contain any information about this. select a linux distribution that is supported by secure boot: the latest versions of ubuntu that has ubuntu 12.04.2 lts and 12.10 will boot and install casually on most systems that have enabled the secure boot.. If you cannot get a properly signed linux distribution you have to disable the secureboot feature on the machine. here is a good source to know how to boot and install linux on a uefi pc with secure boot. in my personal view, uefi secureboot is good only for devices that must be tied to a particular vendor's software like in business computers.. On the other hand, some linux distributions have tried to adapt to uefi firmware with secure boot by including a signed image in their installation..
